Equine Facilitated Learning

Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is an innovative mental health and education intervention. Through observation and understanding of horse behaviour, EFL is a tool to help those who are vulnerable and at risk reflect on their own anxieties and behaviour. This leads to greater resilience, improved social skills and emotional growth.

At the farm, we offer SESSIONS of EFL and HIKING WITH PACK PONIES

"I love the noise they make when they eat, I find it relaxing"

10 y old boy

Our EFL sessions don’t include riding the ponies. They intend to help children connect with nature and bond with animal as well as learning horsemanship skills.

Duration: ½ hour or 1 hour

Hiking with Pack Ponies is a great and unique way to apply the benefits of the EFL practice into real outdoor life adventure.

A team building trip to gather a family or a group of young people and one or two pack ponies.

Pick an itinerary and while discovering the countryside of South Lanarkshire, improving physical health by walking in the fresh air, as well as mental health through outdoor animal therapy, allow them to slow down, indulge their senses and immerse themselves more deeply in beautiful natural environments.

This experience is made to build friendships and companionship with animals. The experience will enable young people to develop new skills, self-confidence and resilience, as well as teaching responsibilities while working as a team.

Duration: Half Day (average 3 hours)

Start: Beginning of May

For more info and booking: laurahinnekens@gmail.com

*Note: At least 1/2h EFL session needs to be booked before going “hiking with pack ponies”.
